Not all of them are winners…

Lately I have been playing around with portraits. It is new and challenging for me. The way I am making them, I can’t tell if it looks like the person I am portraying or even if it looks decent until I’m completely finished with the piece. My first try came out pretty good.

I asked in Instagram if they could tell who it was and everyone got it right away so I was feeling pretty good about it.

I got an invitation to be part of an exhibit at the Monongalia Arts Center in Morgantown, WV. All work in the exhibit had to be pink (or mainly pink). I was so confident of my new found portrait technique that I decided to make a portrait for the exhibit. Who is loved by almost everyone and would look good in pink? Barbie is too obvious. Let’s do Taylor Swift!

After spending a few days sewing tiny bits of fabric, this is what came out. In my opinion it looks nothing like her and it does not look good so I had to scratch my plans and start another pink quilt with a week deadline!

Stay tuned to see what I made.
