Body Nostalgia Week

Once in a while we come across an old photo and we think "How skinny I was! How pretty I was." At the time, we probably did not think we were skinny or pretty but we were. Maybe we are still skinny and pretty and we don't know it yet.

This week I finished Bygone June. Just in time to enter the Nostalgia exhibit. I'm not big on free hand drawing. A lot of my quilts are made from tracing photos. For this quilt I had to imagine a skinny June to fit in the not-so-skinny June. I did a pencil sketch over the original and then transfered it to water-soluble stabilizer. My drawing came out pretty well.

After stitching the drawing on tulle, I dropped it in the sink to dissolve the water-soluble stabilizer. It is pretty amusing to see your drawing swimming in the sink.

The next day, I quilt it on top of the other June. It is amazing how many little details I have to do after "finishing" a quilt.

  • bind edges

  • make a hanger

  • make and attach label

  • attach name tag

  • take final photos

  • post to social media

  • add to website

  • add to database of finished quilts

Now that June is done, I made another block for the library quilt and finished a little bag that I have been working on for awhile.
