The Grand Finale
After 4 month of working on this quilt, I finally finished. I finished the sewing of the quilt top and hired Debra Munk to do the long-arm quilting. There was no way I could quilt that quilt in my little machine. I have never sent a quilt to be long-armed and she did a great job. It was also good that it saved me time because I was running close to the deadline.
After quilting I still had some finishing to do. Bind the edges, sew a hanging sleeve, get the hanger made, add a label...
Then came the big night of the big reveal. It was a very nice event. Everyone had nice and funny things to say about him. If you stay in the same position for 40 years, you must be well liked. At the end of the night they brought out the quilt wrapped and he unboxed it.
I think he liked it and I got many compliments. The quilt looks beautiful on the wall. All the work was worth it. Although as soon as they hung it on the wall I noticed a mistake. They always say the artist is the only one that sees the mistakes so I'm not going to point it out but my suspicion is, he'll notice it too. Oh well...
