From the Textile Museum

On Saturday I did my first Artist Talk at the Textile Museum in Washington DC. It was part of their exhibit Handstitched Worlds - A Cartography of Quilts. I was asked, along with local quilter Georgia Yuan, to talk about one of my quilts compared to one of the quilts in the exhibit. I chose Map Quilt in relation to Uniting States of America.

It was a very cool experience and it went better than I expected. I’m not the best public speaker but everyone was very interested and asked questions at the end. Having Georgia there took some of the pressure off and made the talk more interesting. It was good to see some familiar faces in the crowd but even better to see new faces. The exhibit is great. If yu are in the area, go check it out. It is up until December 22nd.

Thanks to Katrina Orsini for organizing and Niloo Paydar for being a great interviewer.
