Making a Commissioned Quilt

Well, it has been awhile... but I got the first section of the quilt done! It took a long time but I'm pleased with it. The other sections should be easier. I'm surprised how much it looks like the computer design. I don't usually work out a design in the computer as detailed as this one but I did this time since I am working with a client and I want them to have a clear idea of the final quilt.

The one thing I changed from the original design was that I added a shape that signifies the church's roof. When I went to see the pattern on location, I took note of the shape of the roof against the sky as I was driving in. I added that to the quilt as a little nod to the church building.

I am working on the piano now. The color combination is yummy. It shouldn't take too much longer for the quilt top to be completed. I'm estimating a week to a week and a half if I don't run into any unexpected issues. Then I will send it to the long-arm quilter. That is a first time for me but this quilt is too big for me to quilt in my regular sewing machine.
