A Bridge to…

I just finished the Arlington Memorial Bridge quilt and it is symbolic that I just made a quilt of a bridge because I feel like I am transitioning to a new stage in my art.

Arlington Memorial Bridge

I am not saying that I’m never making another architectural quilt, in fact I have something in the back burner involving architectural quilts, but now I am more interested in figures. I have so many ideas that I need to narrow it down but it all started with Awakening June.

Two years ago I was stuck and bored of making architectural designs. I took a figure drawing class. I was “drawing” with scissors and fabric. June was born. It has been running around in my mind ever since. I had prior engagements and I had to work on more architectural quilts. Now that those are over, I can get back to June.

The other day I did this, which I am still not sure what it will end up being but I like where it is going. It has made me think of other ideas that I have been developing.

Work in progress

A new season is starting. I just had a birthday. It is the perfect time to start something new. Where will this bridge take me? Stay tuned…
